About Me

I'm a graduate student in Environmental Sociology at the University of Alberta- this mean I am studying the realtionship between people (society) and their environment.

My study focuses on "Traditional Ecological Knowledge" of polar bear in the Western Arctic. It involves interviewing the local Indigenous peoples (the Inuvialuit) on their past and current knowledge of polar bear ecology. I'm not a biologist on bears though, but I have learnt more from the local people on polar bears and other wildlife than I ever could have learnt in a classroom.

I have also worked with Indigenous peoples in South America and New Zealand, so this issue is very interesting and important to me.
