Engaging with the people who live in the Middle East should give huge indicators that what the U.S. wants for the them might be vastly different than what they want for themselves. By talking with these people, especially in area's U.S. military occupies, we can come to terms with what they need and want versus what we want. We need to separate special interests with what the people of the Middle East actually need help with.

do you believe its up to the U.S. to help these countries or should the affairs of the middle east be left for the people of the middle east to decide?

They know people care about what is happening to them.

I do think that democratic nations such as the US and Canada should be directly involved in these affairs as it is the Middle Eastern citizens against a dictatorship.

If we don't engage in direct dialogue, we can never truly understand what the people are going through. We may have opinions on what we think should take place to resolve the conflicts, but how can we really understand what to do if we aren't there. In order to help them , we need to be able to build relationships with them which will come through communication.

You get first hand experience of what is going on. And also, you get to give them support and hope by letting them know that people all around the world are watching and care about what is happening to them.

Engaging in direct dialogue allows us to know the real story. Although the media (through television, radio, and internet) does provide a glimpse at the situation, we don't know how it directly affects those involved until we speak to them. Coming from media, we do not know the source or how true the message is. But through actual participants in the conflicts we can hear the truth.

I think what the United States is doing to help the Middle East is good although they may not like the westernization that is going on the U.S is doing what they can to try and help the Middle East transition and make it a better place.

Actually discussing and interacting with the pepole that are living wih these conflicts in their day to day lives lets us know what exactly they are thinking. If these eople were to shy away from telling us what they know is going on from the ground instead of what the news casters are telling us then it will lead to more understanding of other cultures and thus lead to less conflicts in the world. If countries no longer believe that their way is the only way or, in the United States' eyes, the best way than the world will no longer have as many conflicts as big as war or terrorism. If we respect each other than the need for conflict will grow to be less and less and eventually might even die out.
